AMA School of Medicine (AMASOM)

ABOUT AMASOM

AMA School of Medicine (AMASOM) is the medical school of AMA Education System (AMAES). It is housed in AMA College Makati, which is strategically located at the heart of Makati City, the Philippines' financial and business capital where the highest concentration of multinational, transnational, local corporations, international organizations and embassies hold their offices.

Amongst the plethora of facilities available for development and enhancement of students' clinical and practical skills, AMASOM has laboratories for Histology, Gross Anatomy, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Pathology. Students gain hands-on experience where they get to perform dissection of cadavers in Gross Anatomy.

AMASOM aims to produce competent medical practitioners who are educated on an innovative case-based curriculum that develops students to become self-directed and lifelong learners – qualities that will prepare them for professional practice. One of the strengths of the AMA Medical Curriculum is that it incorporates information technology-based capabilities to enhance learning and assessments.

AMASOM is a student-centric medicine school that offers the following features:

  • Four-year integrated program, with an ideal faculty-to-student ratio.
  • A hybrid curriculum designed by synchronizing basic science concepts with case-based scenarios.
  • Clinically-oriented and problem-based method of teaching and learning.
  • Non-traditional, contemporary lecture and instructional modules.
  • Select specialized subjects include ethical and legal aspects of the practice of medicine, epidemiology, and health research programs.
  • Eminent faculty, well-established in their chosen fields of specialization and in the academe.

Bachelor of Science (Psychology)

In The Republic of the Philippines, based on the methodology followed in the United States of America, MBBS is followed by the degree in Bachelor of Science.

Students, from countries like India that pursue a 10+2 pattern, can enroll in the BS – MBBS course. Bachelor of Science course lasts 10 months while the MBBS degree course lasts 4 years.

BS – MBBS is a dual degree course, i.e., two degrees will be issued, one for Bachelor of Science, and another for MBBS.
